GNU/Linux Lubuntu 16.04 Sound Settings

Default installation from my GNU/Linux Lubuntu 16.04 doesn’t have any sound control. I never use my desktop PC for listening any sound especially when this desktop is for computation. But when my friend told me that his Logitech USB headset is not working I need to test it. His GNU/Linux is the same like me. As far as I know Ubuntu is very easy and everything is taking care by them so in my mind I don’t have to setup or install anything but I was wrong. If I use dmesg command I’m pretty sure that this headset is working enough. Figure 1 will show the result from dmesg.

Change Desktop Environment and XTerm Configuration

After upgrading my Ubuntu from 12.04 to 14.04, I had a problem with the desktop environment. Oh by the way, I’m using VirtualBox with newest version. So Ubuntu 12.04 said if I insist upgrading to 14.04 then you will have desktop problem. Nothing to lose so I accept the upgrade then it goes around until finished with the upgrade then reboot the Ubuntu.

My Journey Seeking Suitable Operating System

Back then before I choose FreeBSD as my favourite operating system for server and Ubuntu for my desktop, Gentoo become my favourite one. The most optimize operating system because its compiling from the source based on our processor, very light and faster boot and we can freely and manually tuning it with our likes. I don’t have to worry for slow bandwidth because I works in ISP. Almost every week I’m updating my kernel and apply the most stable one or I feel seem stable (I’m not measuring with any parameter, please don’t follow my example).

Cara Installasi GNU/Linux Lubuntu

Sesuai dengan janji pada artikel sebelumnya di Mengenal GNU/Linux Lubuntu, kali ini akan saya jelaskan langkah-langkah installasinya dengan menggunakan virtualization pada virtualbox.
Saya tidak akan menjelaskan lagi bagaimana cara memuat file ISO ke virtualbox karena hal tersebut pernah dibahas pada artikel sebelumnya. Silahkan muat ISO dari GNU/Linux Lubuntu yang pernah anda download sebelumnya. Kemudian tekan tombol “Start” setelah semuanya telah siap sehingga virtualbox mulai booting ISO image GNU/Linux Lubuntu. Terlihat beberapa pilihan dari proses awal installasi GNU/Linux Lubuntu. Pilih “English” sebagai bahasa kemudina pilih “Install Lubuntu” (anda boleh memilih bahasa yang digunakan untuk installasi dengan bahasa favorit anda).

Othman Quran Browser With Indonesian Translation

Oh yeah, setelah migrasi ke GNU/Linux sudah saatnya bagiku untuk ber-‘riset’ ria kembali. Masih tidak jauh-jauh dari Python. Kali ini yang mendapat kesempatan untuk digarap ialah Othman Quran Browser yang dibuat oleh Muayyad Alsadi. Muayyad Alsadi adalah salah satu pengembang Distro GNU/Linux Ojuba yang fully support Arabic. Ojuba adalah salah satu turunan dari Fedora Core. Yah kalian lebih tahulah apa itu Fedora, qe3.
